ISO/TS 16949 was developed by The International Automotive Task Force (IATF), in conjunction with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO/TS 16949:2002 is an ISO Technical Specification, which aligns existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) automotive quality systems standards within the global automotive industry, with the aim of eliminating the need for multiple certifications to satisfy customer requirements
ISO/TS 16949 is relevant to automotive production and service part organizations only. It is applicable only to sites where production or service parts are manufactured. (A site is defined as: a location at which value added manufacturing processes occur.
